Crossing the “Vale da Ursa” bridge already announces the region's unique landscapes, but you still have to take the many bends up the mountain, past fountains and waterfalls, and then reach Zangaria, a small village on the lower border, tucked away in a valley through which a stream meanders, lined with trees.
Zangaria is a strange name! The town folks tell the tail of how it was founded by people from the Levante region, today Syria, who came to settle here and brought with them, to remember their homeland, the name of the place and the olive trees, which are said to have been born in the Levant 5000 years ago. The first references to this small place date back to around 1300 in a charter from King Dinis, it is said, because of its famous Galician olive oil and the water-powered mill that existed on the valley's stream.

OUR HISTORY
Today, Zangaria's olive oil is still produced using traditional practices, which means that in each strand it incorporates the strength of a place's history, biodiversity and respect for nature and the ecosystems. Nowadays, the force of the waters from the stream no longer meets the water mill, but the great granite stone of the mill, where this oil was born, is still at Zangaria and is our tasting table. Come and taste Zangaria's olive oil.
